Since this presentation in March 2007, the government has announced that from 1 May 2007 the SEGS 12-month working scheme will be replaced with the International Graduate Scheme (IGS). IGS is very similar to SEGS, but the scheme is no longer limited to Science and Engineering students, and to postgraduates who started their course after 1 May 2006. Under IGS, anyone who completes their undergraduate or postgraduate studies in any subject after 1 May 2007, with any degree class, including PGCE and postgraduate certificates and diplomas, can apply to stay and work in the UK for 12 months. The rules about how and when to apply, and what you can do after IGS, are expected to the same as for SEGS. For more information, visit www.workingintheuk.gov.uk
