In London you'll find that there are always lots of internationally focused events taking place, and many lectures dealing with aspects of development or international affairs. While these won't introduce you to careers in development specifically, they will help to build your knowledge of the sector and of the organisations involved. The links below are not exhaustive but will give you a few starting points.

Merlin Information Evening
Free information evening held by Merlin about working in the humanitarian aid sector. Sessions are held on the second Wednesday of every month at the London office and sessions last one hour.

SPW -  Volunteering overseas and international development. Information and Selection Days
SPW are looking for for final year students with an interest in getting into careers in development. Upcoming Information Days are being held on 19th December, 26th February 2008 and 17th April 2008.

LSE Public Lectures
A regular programme of events, including several hosted by DESTIN (the Development Studies Institute), some of which are part of a DFID lecture series, and other departments linked to development.

OneWorld Events

Royal African Society
Hosts many prominent speakers from multilateral organisations, governments, NGOs and academia, discussing development in Africa.

BOND International Development Events
Calendar of events in Europe, but with many held in London.
