Aptitude Test (SHL Gap Series 3)

This full reasoning test session lasts two hours under strict test conditions, and gives you the opportunity to practice the kind of numerical, verbal and diagrammatical tests which employers may set as part of a selection process. After you've sat the test as part of a group, you can book in to receive one-to-one feedback with a careers advisor.

This service is available at all college careers services. Sessions at C2 Education are also open to students of the School of Oriental and African Studies and the University College London. Sessions run regularly during term time; see individual college careers services for further details.

Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Personality Questionnaire

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator will help you think about your personality type. It suggests how your personality may affect your career choice. The two hour session will focus on the strengths and positive qualities of the 16 different personality preferences. This will help improve your communication skills by giving you a greater understanding of yourself and others.

The MBTI focuses on your preferred ways of dealing with information and how you learn best, whether you prefer to operate in the outer world of people and events or the inner world of ideas and reflections, how you approach decision-making and how you deal with the outside world and organise your life.

The MBTI is used in a variety of situations. Employers use it with their staff for team building, counsellors use it with their clients for personal development and it is increasingly used in career choice. By understanding how you differ from others, you may be in a better position to choose your career path and identify what style of job hunting and working environment suits you best. However, it cannot give you a list of jobs to choose.
