How are Governments involved?
International Development has a high level of support in the UK government.
The most directly relevant departments are the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Though Development related work is also undertaken in Departments such as The Treasury and the Government Economic Service.
As well as working bilaterally the UK has a role in International Development through its membership of multilateral organisations such as the European Union, the United Nations, the Commonwealth, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organisation, the OECD and the G8.
