What is Emergency Relief?
Work in this sector, involving immediate response to crises such as famine, flood and war, can be sharply distinguished from the development field as a whole.
However many organisations such as Oxfam and Save The Children are involved in both short term and longer term projects and have emergency relief as just one of several areas.
Typically organisations involved in this arena will call on highly qualified and experienced personnel but there also NGOs that work in this area that may be able to place 'first timers' with relatively less international experience.
