What is a sustainable development NGO?
Sustainable Development Non-Governmental Organisations are concerned with longer term development. This could be through focusing on building the capacities of local communities to meet their needs through small scale local action.
At the next level it could be less about operational service provision and involve an emphasis on making changes in institutions and policies at local, national and international levels.
NGOs might include voluntary and religious organisations and vary in size, structure and regional focus. There are around 600 NGOs in the UK
