Information for Employers
Welcome to Reach!
What is Reach about?
The new Reach website is going to be an interactive online community providing inspiration and support to students who feel that they face some kind of barrier* to getting where they want to be when they graduate. We hope that this is a space that is inclusive, informative and graduate career focussed. It will be widely publicised to all University of London students via the careers services' programmes, emails, department contacts and other partners within the university. We hope to be live by early November.
* Reach feels that barriers are a very individual matter depending on the person and the sector they hope to go into. This may include disability, ethnic background, gender, sexual orientation, age and education opportunities.
Why should organisations get involved?
It is well known that many people still suffer discrimination in the work place. By supporting Reach, you are showing students that your organisation is dedicated to stamping out this discrimination and is actively working towards building a society that celebrates equality and diversity.
- It will help your business achieve its diversity goals
- Build brand recognition and word of mouth marketing on campus
- Increase your recognition as an ethical employer (an increasing concern of graduates)
- Strengthen your relationship with The Careers Group University of London
How can organisations get involved?
There are several ways to get involved which we have outlined below, but if you would like to have a chat, suggest new ideas or provide feedback, please do not hesitate to call Anna Colls on 020 7866 3650 or email
anna.colls@careers.lon.ac.uk
Ways to get involved
Blog - let us know what you would like to add to the blog. This could include your latest diversity-related recruitment initiatives, number of places left on your scheme, discussion of diversity-related policies or other news.
Calendar - events, open days, talks and application deadlinese for schemes can be put in our 'upcoming events' calendar.
Forum - this will be a space for students, employers and careers advisers to exchange views, answer queries and discuss ideas. If you would like your organisation to get involved or suggest a discussion topic please get in contact.
Inspiring stories - there is nothing better than hearing from successful graduates in their own words. If you have graduates who would like to contribute a short piece of 200 words about their own experience of overcoming a barrier at work we would really like to hear from you.
Videos and podcasts - the new site will feature a variety of media, so we would especially welcome contributions of video and audio. These may cover inspiring stories, they could depict someone at work discussing their day-to-day experiences, or they might show presentations from a diversity scheme or event. If you are willing to be filmed or you have material already that we could use, please get in touch.
