Sharing JobOnline Vacancies on Social Media December 13, 2012
Posted by The Careers Group News in : graduate recruitment, jobs, recruitment , add a commentRecently we posted about New Enhancements to JobOnline, The Careers Group’s Graduate Jobs Database. As well as improvements to the database and its webpages we have also enhanced the packages we offer to employers so that they can now advertise their vacancies on our social media platforms.
We began offering employers the chance to include social media posts as part of their JobOnline packages in the summer and in the last three months we’ve seen a rapid increase in demand for this service. If an employer places a long (over 25 word) advert they can opt, for a set price, to include a link on our main The Careers Group, University of London Facebook page and Twitter feed enabling them to reach a wide range of job seekers.
The success of this new service is possibly due to increased awareness among employers of the importance of reaching out to applicants through social media. Over 9,000 people use our Facebook page and our Twitter feed has just under 5,000 followers. The nature of social media also means that these vacancies are shared, retweeted and commented on, enabling them to reach an even wider audience.
Employers also like the service as it’s particularly simple to add a social media campaign to your JobOnline recruitment package. Ingrid Ross, Head of The Careers Group’s Communications and Vacancies team, suggested that the improvements to the booking system and providing more information to recruiters have enabled increased employers to benefit from the service.
If you”re an employer and would like to reach an additional 14,000 people by sharing your jobs on social media please see our services for recruiters.

New Enhancements to JobOnline, The Careers Group’s Graduate Jobs Database November 29, 2012
Posted by The Careers Group News in : job, job hunting, job vacancies, jobs, vacancies , add a commentThis week The Careers Group released some excellent new features to JobOnline its vacancies’ database packed with graduate jobs across more than 20 sectors. Updated daily, there are opportunities available across most skills, interests and degrees.
The improved homepage design means that students and graduates can easily access current jobs by industry type. Each industry is listed as a text-link which takes the visitor directly to jobs within that sector. The number of opportunities available for an industry-type is conveniently listed right next to the link. At the time of writing there are, for example, 342 roles within IT and Management, 277 opportunities within Finance and 127 within NGOs and Charities.
There is an advanced search facility which allows a student or graduate to personalise their search. For example, the combination of “education”, “graduate programme/scheme“ and “full-time” returned eight roles including trainee teachers at three different schools.
Current internships, temporary jobs and international jobs are now featured on the homepage.
Positioned elegantly under the “browse sector” box, each option is an image link which makes them stand out and attractive to click-on.
Students and graduates can also apply for all sorts of jobs managed by Recruitment Solutions at the University of London. The registration link is clearly listed on the right hand side of the page where they can also sign up for email jobalerts.
Graduate recruiters are invited to set up an account and start recruiting today in order to reach over 100,000 high-calibre students and graduates. They are also able to feature their job with a logo on the homepage in order to increase their visibility amongst page visitors.

Flexible working has become a way of life in many companies and temporary staff are an integral part of many organisations across the UK. Growing support from legislation has made temporary work an increasingly attractive option with employers prepared to offer competitive rates of pay and benefits to secure the best employees.
More employers now look for temporary and contract help to cover peaks in business activity as well as to cover for holidays and sickness. Temporary help is the most buoyant sector of the employment market – in fact there is a real shortage of talent.
The University of London Temp Agency has access to hundreds of thousands of current students and recent graduates ready for work in a wide range of industries and occupations: from cleaning and catering assistants to scientific research and building websites.
The Temp Agency currently has a number of vacancies including:
- 6 x office workers (non) admin – full time hours based in Russell Square
