Sharing JobOnline Vacancies on Social Media December 13, 2012
Posted by The Careers Group News in : graduate recruitment, jobs, recruitment , add a commentRecently we posted about New Enhancements to JobOnline, The Careers Group’s Graduate Jobs Database. As well as improvements to the database and its webpages we have also enhanced the packages we offer to employers so that they can now advertise their vacancies on our social media platforms.
We began offering employers the chance to include social media posts as part of their JobOnline packages in the summer and in the last three months we’ve seen a rapid increase in demand for this service. If an employer places a long (over 25 word) advert they can opt, for a set price, to include a link on our main The Careers Group, University of London Facebook page and Twitter feed enabling them to reach a wide range of job seekers.
The success of this new service is possibly due to increased awareness among employers of the importance of reaching out to applicants through social media. Over 9,000 people use our Facebook page and our Twitter feed has just under 5,000 followers. The nature of social media also means that these vacancies are shared, retweeted and commented on, enabling them to reach an even wider audience.
Employers also like the service as it’s particularly simple to add a social media campaign to your JobOnline recruitment package. Ingrid Ross, Head of The Careers Group’s Communications and Vacancies team, suggested that the improvements to the booking system and providing more information to recruiters have enabled increased employers to benefit from the service.
If you”re an employer and would like to reach an additional 14,000 people by sharing your jobs on social media please see our services for recruiters.

The London Graduate Fair 2012 Highlights July 10, 2012
Posted by The Careers Group News in : graduate recruitment , add a comment“Well-organised as always and we really appreciated the fantastic space we had…This fair continues to be an exciting experience each time.”
This comment from City Year demonstrates that the summer London Graduate Fair continues to be an excellent way of bringing together employers, training organisations and enthusiastic students and graduates.
It is the largest national graduate recruitment event in the UK with exhibitors including IBM and Arcadia Group. This year, attendance was in excess of 3,000 students and graduates. As one visitor remarked, “it actually gave me the opportunity to be in touch with lead companies”.
Given the economic climate it is vital that job seekers have as many opportunities to meet employers as possible, as one visitor told us: “The best thing is that it connected students with top firms we’d otherwise be less likely to [meet]…as it’s tough to get into these firms”.
The fair also offered a wide range of presentations from careers advice on how to write the perfect CV to sector specific careers information, employer presentations and in-depth workshops. Some of these presentations are available on Careers Tagged, The Careers Group’s online graduate resource.
The next London Graduate Fair takes place 16 October 2012. Contact for exhibitor and visitor information.
More vacancies on JobOnline June 22, 2012
Posted by The Careers Group News in : graduate, graduate jobs, graduate recruitment, job hunting, job vacancies, jobs, students, vacancies , add a commentDespite the current job market JobOnline – the online jobs board from The Careers Group, University of London – has seen a tremendous increase in vacancies on its database.
Over the last month 1113 vacancies have been posted on JobOnline which is a 53% increase on the same month last year. The most notable increases have been in Science, Engineering, Arts and Marketing.
Ingrid Ross, Head of Communications and Vacancies, suggests this success may be down to the introduction of sector-related pushes where each month the team focuses on sourcing vacancies for a particular industry. For June the focus is on Life Sciences which has so far resulted in an increase of eight times the vacancies for Animal & Plant Resources, Materials Science – Manufacturing & Processing, and Scientific Services over the same period last year. Next month the team will be focusing on engineering.
JobOnline is a terrific resource for student and graduate job-seekers with daily updated vacancies for full-time, part-time, graduate programmes and internship opportunities. All of the jobs advertised adhere to strict guidelines ensuring they conform to National Minimum Wage legislation and provide equality of opportunity.
