Taking place over four days, 9 – 12 September 2013, the course consists of 100 top University of London students or recent graduate members of our Grad Club spending four days visiting eight or nine top City employers and institutions. The Careers Group, University of London combines its long history of providing excellent support to students and experience working with graduate employers to offer this hugely successful and competitive opportunity.
Run in collaboration with a number of top City firms The City course enables students from across the University of London to gain insight into the City. Participants take part in employer-led business games, listen to presentations and graduate panels about the range of City careers and network with recruiters and recent graduates working at the firms. This provides a valuable experience for both students and employers. Videos from 2012’s course can be found on The City Course Facebook page.

Getting Graduates into Careers website release September 27, 2012

The website is aimed at students, jobseekers and graduate recruiters. It has access to thousands of roles and graduate recruiters can reach 200,000+ of the UK’s top students.
The modernised design is user-friendly and lively. The site is more intuitive and we’ve responded to your feedback so that you can find what you want faster. New features on the site include “More jobs like this” on the homepage and an easier login system for recruiters.
The site makes it easy for users to access all the products and services offered by The Careers Group. Graduate recruiters can advertise vacancies, book recruitment events and send targeted emails from the Recruiters homepage. And they can choose from a range of services which include hiring an intern, hiring a temp or attending recruitment events.
For jobseekers the site not only offers thousands of jobs, there are also ways of keeping up to date with the latest news and opportunities via industry-sector Facebook pages and Twitter feeds covering a range of careers.
What London Graduates Do, where jobseekers can research the employment destinations of other University of London graduates for the last five years, is only a click away.
Other resources on offer include sector-specific blogs with helpful insights about how to go about getting the right job. These are written by careers consultants at The Careers Group.
There are dedicated sites for international students and students who face barriers to employment.

Big changes are occurring for Dentistry graduates. There is now high competition for jobs and a new national recruitment system. This session will help you to understand the changes in dental recruitment and develop better support programmes for final year dental students.
The course will:
1. Describe the new national recruitment process, specifically looking at the application form and assessment centre stages
2. Help you to understand how students can improve their chances in the assessment centre
3. Provide information on the options available for students who fail to get onto the dental Foundation Programme.
The course is suitable for staff within Dental Schools who advise students as well as careers advisers working in this sector.
The training is being delivered as a webinar to save you time and money on travel. The Careers Group can also lower the cost for attendees so it’s an affordable way to hear about the latest developments.
