BOND and short development courses March 30, 2011

BOND, the membership body for UK international development NGOs  are now providing a suite of course that may provide a useful boost to  CVs for entry level individuals.  You can read more about their courses at http://bit.ly/eND4rI

They include things like a one day introduction to advocacy, a course on fundraising and a two day introduction to international development.  While most of their courses are geared to people already in the sector these courses might be helpful  to those looking to add some more sector  knowledge alongside their volunteering and academic qualifications

BOND is a key organisation in international development and I soon came across them when I started researching the sector a few years ago.  I haven’t had much to do with them since because they mainly focus on providing services to their member NGOs.

They do, however, provide a useful web based membership directory. Also as they are now looking to reach out to individual members as well as organisations I arranged to meet them  recently.  After the meeting it became clear that international development students and entry level applicants may well be hearing more about BOND in the future.
