Law and Development March 25, 2009

I realise that I  haven’t written anything on the blog for a couple of months. Partly that’s because I’ve been sending out lots of stuff  via our ‘jobAlert’ service. If you want to make sure you receive regular – make that irregular – updates about entry level roles in international development and policy then please register at careers.lon.ac.uk/alert and make sure you select the categories ‘NGOs and charities’, ‘multilaterals’ and ‘Social and market research’.

So I thought I’d write on the blog before I send out my next newsletter because if I don’t  it makes my two web sites look neglected.

The two sites are careers.lon.ac.uk/development which is about entry level jobs in international development and careers.lon.ac.uk/policy which is about routes into public policy work.

What you may have missed if you aren’t signed up to jobAlert. A  paid internship with the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, an entry level two year internship with the World Bank, updates about paid INTERNATIONAL volunteering roles with Christian Aid.

Law and International Development

Another interesting organisation I visited recently was Advocates for International Development. They act as a broker between the legal profession and the developments sector in support of the Millenium Development Goals. They offer unpaid internships (as a charity they are allowed to do that) and an excellent membership package. I met with them at the Law offices of Reed Smith in the City. They, like lots of other development organisations are coming to our careers event on April 3rd.  There are still a few places left on this course. And this isn’t code for ‘we haven’t had much interest shown in the course.’ More details at careers.lon.ac.uk/dev

If you want more information on Advocate for International Development then read my visit report at
